Imagine Cup

The Imagine Cup is one way Microsoft is encouraging young people to apply their imagination, their passion and their creativity to technology innovations that can make a difference in the world.

In ten years, the Imagine Cup has grown to be a truly global competition focused on finding solutions to real-world problems. Since 2003, over 1.4 million students have participated in the Imagine Cup with 358,000 students representing 183 countries and regions registering for the Imagine Cup 2011 competition.

Black Marble supports students taking part in the Imagine Cup, including mentoring, and in 2012 participating in CodeCamps for ImagineCupNE. Also in 2012, two teams supported and mentored by Black Marble (Team Eyeworks and team Teeside 0x32) won the North East heats, and made it through to the UK finals, where Team Eyeworks went on to win. Black Marble continues to support the Imagine Cup in the North East in 2013 and beyond.

In 2007, Robert Hogg mentored a team from Hull ('The Seedlings') to success in the UK leg and then onwards to take part in the world final in Korea.
